GOD OF ILLUSIONS
of
Donna Tartt
Joseph Mosca said In Search of the God who is not ...
Write a comment on this book includes a lucid thinking and memory exercise not indifferent .. All this because a novel is alive, that leaves a mark in one way or another: mine is strongly characterized by the fact that I love him like few others .. I said memory exercise, so why even after many years without the emotional impact memorable moments and that's where we must go back to give a sense of the myriad of feelings and passions that even morbid thriller tension of refined and cultured
ambitions could trigger ... When I read in 2003 I also would have wanted to live in this campus Vermont, one of them (reading the participant call me) to be part of that group of students led by their charismatic professor of greek (Julian Morrow), a veritable deus ex machina that creeps into his students selected the cult of Dionysius and the sublime, together with the 'worship of beauty separated from its moral basis. Bravo and prestigious teacher, how bad unsurpassed master of life (this would add the I) that "begins" his students to the cult of Dionysus, the god of illusions, whose scholars "see the world as the world is not" ...
And yes, because the cult of beauty and aesthetic Julian goes wrong .. Dionysus to understand We must take a 'Dionysian orgy. This is fact, and in 'ecstasy, in fact, Dionysian, together with the drugs and the' alcohol dominating campus life, the boys to pieces and killed a farmer. Then they are forced to kill their comrade and friend, excluded from the smaller group because they are too materialistic, that was beginning to blackmail because he felt excluded from them .. and finally, as an act of purification of the group's leader, Henry, commits suicide, while the 'true inspiration, Julian Morrow, abandons them to their fate. And Richard, who tells the story in person at some point clearly outlines the emotional and moral center of the book (in my opinion, obviously) referring to his friends of the course with this sentence: "They knew not only 'cos it was evil but the 'infinite number of tricks by which the evil is presented as well. I felt that came to the heart of things, all 'inherent rottenness of the world'. .. What a wonderful book resembles the beautiful green eyes of Tartt, the American writer .. so expressive and deep, iridescent as the human soul of the characters, so that good sound and was able to tell.
